McDowell Children's Theatre
MCT began with a summer theatre camp in 2013 and has grown into a full season: including a holiday show, a summer theatre camp, and now a spring production for teens. There is a role for every kiddo who wants to participate in one of our productions, and there are many roles to fill onstage, backstage, and in the tech booth. We welcome boys and girls of all ages, diversities, backgrounds, and abilities to create the best, most beautiful shows!
There is no cost for any child (ages 5 to 18) to participate in our Spring or Winter productions. Summer Theatre Camp costs are $25 per week, for 4 weeks and scholarships are available.

McDowell Quilt Trail
The McDowell County Quilt Trail program is sponsored by the McDowell Arts Council Association. Their base of operations/studio is located in the Historic McDowell House.
The Quilt Trail program began in June 2009 as part of a grassroots interest to extend the Quilt Trail of Western North Carolina to McDowell County. The McDowell Quilt Trail has now been retired, but their beautiful works of art can be spotted across McDowell County.

Micropolitan Film Festival (NEW!)
Calling all regional filmmakers!
Films can be any genre and we encourage an original take, element, or perspective on small-town life experiences or films made by those whose inspiration draws from their small town roots: comfortable, traumatizing, or downright strange (we're keeping this criteria open to YOUR interpretation).
Whether your film is a documentary, sci-fi, comedy, animation, romance, art-film, silent, or horror: we want to experience stories through the eyes of both insiders and outsiders of the Micropolitan world!
Festival dates are August 10, 11, and 12, 2018.
