Beyond 1842 Project: A Community Archive

McDowell Arts Council Association was awarded an America 250 NC Community Grant, from the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, to create an online archive about McDowell County’s history in honor of the United States of America’s 250th anniversary.

This funding will support the project “Beyond 1842: McDowell County Oral History and Community Archive,” which aims to preserve and share the history of McDowell County through an online archive and community oral history program. This project will be led by Project Director Jordan Laney, PhD.
